16" x 20" acrylic on cradle board

As I painted Awakening, I focused on the way the external light illuminated the greens and blues of the echeveria. The soft, luminous colors suggested the plant receiving the nourishment it needs.

That made me think about the ways an outside source can change our perspective. Sometimes it takes another person, a new experience, or simply a moment of light to help us see something differently and open ourselves to new possibilities.
